hum

I f****ing love hum!! They are one of my fav bands of all time. There music never gets old see for yourself.

Heres a lil bio:
Hum is/was the Illinois-based fuzztone foursome with a shifting but final lineup of Matt Talbott (vocals/guitar), Tim Lash (guitar), Jeff Dimpsey (bass), and Bryan St.Pere (drums)

They have four studio albums: Fillet Show (1991), Electra 2000 (1993), You'd Prefer an Astronaut (1995) and the brilliant Downward is Heavenward (1998).

There have been rumors after recent reunion performances that Hum may become active again; both live and in the studio. Since breaking up on January 1, 2001, Hum has only played two live shows, one at Furnace Fest on August 16, 2003 and another at RockFest in Champaign Oct 15, 2005.

Diecast

DIECAST have triumphantly returned with a stunning new effort, Internal Revolution, which perfectly showcases their constant evolution while fully developing their own unique sound that is destined to stand out as one of the scene’s most promising acts. With a new lineup intact, the group were able to expand upon their influences with no preconceived boundaries and the results were unlike anything they ever expected.

The additions of an entirely new rhythm section composed of Brad Horion (bass) and Dennis Pavia (drums) allowed Paul Stoddard (vocals) the freedom to finally unleash his natural singing voice, ultimately resulting in stellar, captivating melodies that still retain a hard edge. Guitarists Jon Kita and Kirk Kolaitis deliver their most impressive performances yet and prove that they are one of the most impressive up and coming guitar tandems.

DIECAST spent the better part of this past year fine-tuning Internal Revolution and teamed up with longtime producer Paul Trust in late May to track the long awaited effort. The disc promises to be their biggest sounding and most dynamic offering yet. Stoddard further elaborates: “DIECAST are now stronger than ever. I feel Internal Revolution is going to be one of the most diverse records to hit our scene to date. Guaranteed to be something for everyone.”

DIECAST originally formed back in 1997 and spent years honing their craft in the underground scene. The group issued their debut album, Undo The Wicked, in 1998 on Samson Records, and it created a huge buzz within the burgeoning Northeast scene. The hype caught the attention of Now or Never Records, who immediately signed the band and released Day of Reckoning in 2001.

The album was well-received by fans and press alike, and DIECAST were quickly creating a name for themselves. The album’s standout track, “Singled Out,” showed the band’s diversity and songwriting ability, as it featured a captivating chorus matched with stunning melodies. The group were also one of the first bands of the metalcore genre to incorporate clean vocals into their songwriting, a true harbinger of the breadth and depth of the songwriting captured on Internal Revolution.

The diversity encapsulated on Day of Reckoning afforded them the opportunity to open for the legendary Alice Cooper in the U.S. and proved that they can play in front of any audience and win them over. Hot off the heels of this tour, the band continued their touring domination with Chimaria and Unearth that would eventually lead up to their biggest touring opportunity in 2002, landing the opening slot on the Slayer/Hatebreed tour. The band stepped up and delivered huge performances, proving that they not only belonged on the same stage as these genre titans but could also hold their own in front of these crowds.

In 2003, DIECAST enlisted vocalist Paul Stoddard who immediately pumped new life into the band and songwriting process. The group signed with Century Media Records and commenced recording shortly thereafter. The band stormed back onto the scene in 2004 with the ferocious album, Tearing Down Your Blue Skies, which marked their first effort with Stoddard handling vocal duties. The disc was hailed by critics as the band’s most accomplished work yet, as anthems such as “Medieval”, “Rise and Oppose” and “These Days” were greatly embraced by Headbangers Ball and Uranium. DIECAST toured the world relentlessly with the likes of Ill Nino, Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, Napalm Death and 3 Inches of Blood, further showcasing their chameleon-like ability to throwdown with any band anywhere.

With Internal Revolution, DIECAST have now carved out their own refreshing, unique niche within the scene.

Boysetsfire

I love these guys. Every single album they have put out is awsome.

Hardcore band from Newark, Delaware, United States

The Hardcore band boysetsfire was founded 1994 in Delaware/USA. One of the main reasons was 'To shake things and change', which basically meant to mosh like lunatics through the rehearsal room. But soon the wish for a change manifests in more and more politically inspired lyrics. Only about a month after their first rehearsal, they played their first gig for friends. This opened the doors for some local club gigs in Newark, and the first demo was recorded shortly after.

The band is not in for half done things, so a second demo is released, and a two week long tour booked. Before the first EP "This Crying this Screaming, my voice is born" in 1996, the name boysetsfire is already quite known in the Hardcore-Scene along the east coast of the United States. 1997 they signed a contract with Initial Records, and record their first full length album "The day the sun went out". Underground Magazines celebrate the newcomer band and especially the vocalist Nathan Gray.

In 1999 the second full lenght album "After the Eulogy" is recorded, and boysetsfire go on Tour with Snapcase and also do the Vans Warped tour. Their old bassist is replaced by Rob Avery, who also does all the artwork for the new albums. After a short (and unpleasant) stop at Victory Records, the band changes to Wind Up, a sub-label of Sony. There "Tomorrow come today" is released in 2003. After a dispute with Wind up and the following conflict, the band is 'homeless' until 2005, where they move back from the major Sony to the traditional indie label Burning Heart, the label of such bands like The Hives, Refused, Raised Fist and Millencollin. Through Burning Heart (Europe) and Equal Vision (North-America) the album "The Misery Index: Notes from the plague years" is released in early 2006.

The latest line-up was: Matt Krupanski (Drums), Josh Latshaw (Guitar), Chad Ivestan (Guitar), Robert Ehrenbrand (Bass), Nathan Gray (Vocals)

boysetsfire announced on July 31st, 2006, that they are retiring. In 2007, they reunited for some shows. Nathan Gray and Josh Latshaw formed a new band called The Casting Out which features only few characteristics of boysetsfire.

Kittie

If u are into metal, and like female metal bands I would check out Kittie..

Kittie is a Canadian, all-female alternative metal band from London, Ontario. The band rose to success in 1999 when the track Brackish from their debut album Spit became a hit single. The band also supported Slipknot during the early 2000's on Slipknot's United Kingdom tour heightening the band's popularity.

Kittie was formed in the year of 1996, when Mercedes Lander and Fallon Bowman met in
a high school gymnastics class. The lead singer, Morgan Lander, is sister to Mercedes. Their original bassist was Tanya Candler, who was forced to leave the band in the winter of 1999 due to health problems. She was replaced with Talena Atfield. In 2001, Fallon Bowman left Kittie without citing any official reasons, though it was alleged that it was due to the rest of the bands discomfort with Fallon's obsession with the Columbine Killings (which, of course, was not true). In reality, Fallon had been attempting to steer the band's musical direction away from what the remaining members were comfortable with and as a result was having issues with the band's management. Fallon eventually started a new project called Amphibious Assault. No replacement for Fallon was made at this time. The band's guitar technician, Jeff Phillips, filled the vacant spot during tours, but he was never officially made a member.

Bassist Talena Atfield left in 2002 and was the subject of much controversy for quite some time. She issued a statement saying the band had given her an ultimatum, although the validity of this is unknown. She was replaced by Jennifer Arroyo.

In 2004 they added a fourth member, the second guitarist Lisa Marx, and Jeff Phillips went full time to his side project Thine Eyes Bleed.
